Fire Safety Awareness Training Course
Aim: For staff to know how to reduce fire risks, deal with fires if appropriate and escape safely in the event of fire.
Delivery: The sessions will be delivered using mainly PowerPoint presentations and group discussion. Photographs and samples are used to emphasize certain aspects of the course.
Award: Each candidate will receive a certificate if a successful understanding has been gained.
Description
This 2.5-hour course covers the basic information all employees should know relating to safe practice in the work place. Understanding the way fires start in a workplace, common causes of fires and the effect of fire on a building. The course looks at the responsibilities for fire safety and the relevant legislation. Case studies are used to demonstrate how fires can take lives and destroy property. It will examine the basic fundamentals of fire safety within the work environment and highlight the fire precautions required within your working environment. The course will highlight escape strategies and how the means of escape should operate. It will introduce the concept of fire detection and alarm and the theory of fighting fires with extinguishers.
The course has specifically been designed for employers to help them carry out their duty to train employees under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. For those employees with more specific fire Warden duties, this course forms the first part introduction to the 1.5-hour Fire Warden Course.
By the end of this course the delegate will:

• Understand the dangers of fire
• Understand the importance of evacuation drills
