Full qualification title: Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Associated Industrial Services Occupations (Construction) – Passive Fire Protection (QCF).

The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Associated Industrial Services Occupations – Passive Fire Protection qualification has been developed for delivery in a working environment; this means you need to be employed to study this qualification. It has been designed to develop and recognise your skills, knowledge and competence so that you can work in Passive Fire Protection within the construction industry or progress onto further learning.

Requirements

This NVQ qualification requests the learner to demonstrate, in a real workplace environment, that you are competent against a set of performance statements. You are assessed by an occupationally competent and qualified assessor whose job is to work with you and help you through your programme of learning.

This qualification and the units which form it have been designed to sit within the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) which is regulated by Ofqual. The QCF is a framework designed to support a demand-led approach to skills based on the building up and transfer of credit awarded for learning in a flexible, responsive and inclusive manner.

The Awarding Body for this qualification is CSkills Awards and Independent Fire Inspections Ltd are Accredited to deliver this qualification through the National Specialist Accredited Centre (NSAC) for the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).

Learner outcomes:

 

The learner will learn key practical skills and knowledge in these mandatory units:
  • Erecting and Dismantling Access/Working Platforms in the Workplace
  • Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
  • Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace
  • Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace
The learner will also learn key practical skills and knowledge in two of the following optional units:
  • Installing Dry Cladding in the Workplace
  • Applying Intumescent Coatings in the Workplace
  • Installing Fire Resisting Ductwork Systems in the Workplace
  • Installing Cavity Barriers in the Workplace
  • Erecting Fire Resisting Walls and Linings in the Workplace
  • Erecting Fire Resisting Ceiling Systems in the Workplace
  • Applying Non-reactive Spray Coatings in the Workplace
  • Installing Fire Resisting Timber Doorsets in the Workplace
  • Installing Fire Stopping in the Workplace

The way we achieve the delivery of your NVQ is through On Site Assessment and Training (OSAT) and this involves, assessment onsite using a variety of different assessment methods developed to collect authentic evidence to support the learners competence.  The process is designed around the learner with minimal onsite down time.

The minimum length of the assessments from the candidate’s registration to the actual achievement of the NVQ is about three months and the maximum is twelve months.

 

We will deliver your NVQ in the shortest possible time, to ensure if the learner is competent they will have a recognised qualification.

To apply for a CSCS card you must have the appropriate construction related qualifications and training and, in most cases, you must pass the CITB Health Safety and Environment Test within the previous two years. Exemptions to this requirement are listed on the CSCS website. The type of test you need to pass will depend on the job you do and the type of card you are applying for. The NVQ Level 2 Passive Fire Protection Qualification will entitle you to have a Skilled Worker Card. Whilst working towards your qualification you will be able to apply for an experienced worker card which will be valid for 1 year.

 You will require a valid CSCS Health and Safety Test in order to obtain your Level 2 NVQ certificate and CSCS Card therefore if you do not have one you should visit the CSCS website to book one. 

The cost of the level 2 NVQ Passive Fire Protection assessment is £650. Construction companies paying CITB Levy can claim grants from the CITB for each completed NVQ assessment.

The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Work Supervision (Construction) (QCF)

Requirements

The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Work Supervision qualification has been developed for delivery in a working environment; this means you need to be employed to study this qualification. It has been designed to develop and recognise your skills, knowledge and competence so that you can work in Occupational Work Supervision within the construction industry or progress onto further learning.

The way we achieve the delivery of your NVQ is through On Site Assessment and Training (OSAT) and this involves, assessment onsite using a variety of different assessment methods developed to collect authentic evidence to support the learners competence.  The process is designed around the learner with minimal onsite down time.  To achieve this qualification you must be a supervisor carrying out supervisory tasks such as delivering Tool Box Talks, Checking and Recording Works, Directing Skilled Workers.
