How long do you have to complete the qualification?
Access is available to the course once purchased for a 3 year period. Certificated Inspectors have permanent access to the course for as long as they maintain the Certificated Inspector Status
How much content is there?
Contained within the course are 17 videos which make up 8 hours video time and 300 competency questions.
How long does it take?
We base our statistics on 3 levels Novice, Intermediate and Expert.
- Novice – Someone who has very little knowledge and very little experience. This could take anywhere up to 40 hours to complete based on continuous use.
- Intermediate – Someone who has at least 2 years’ experience in the industry of the products, systems and regulations. This could take anywhere up to 30 hours to complete based on continuous use.
- Expert – Someone who has at least 5 years’ experience in the industry of products, systems, regulations and fire testing. Our shortest time statistic tells us that the Fire Stopping Inspection Course can be completed in as little as 16 hours based on continuous use.

Does this cover companies or Individuals?
Certificated Inspectors can be uploaded as part of a company or as individuals, depending what the employer requires.
How long does the Certificated Inspector Status last?
After a 3 year period from assessment it is mandatory for Certificated Inspectors to be re-assessed.
When should the inspector apply to become a Certificated Inspector?
When the inspector can confidently answer the Fire Stopping Inspection Course assessment questions as part of a written none multiple choice exam and achieve at least a 90% pass mark.
When the inspector can confidently be able to communicate and report on the different types of fire stopping, linear gap seals and cavity barriers which can be installed in buildings.
What is the assessment process?
The Assessment process takes place in an inspection environment of the inspector’s choice. Access will be required above ceilings, risers and in voids or where access permits to enable the assessor to test the Inspectors knowledge of different fire stopping systems and how they are reported.
The inspector completes an exam with 88 questions where the inspector has to achieve at least 90% to pass the assessment. The inspector must report on what is inspected on the day and complete within the examination sheet which is checked when the assessor marks the paper. The assessment process should take between 4-6 hours, however the time can be reduced with multiple examinations taking place at the same time.
